The population of the UK and Ireland was assessed by census every 10 years from 1801, however only those taken between 1841 and 1901 are generally of value to family history researchers. The following extracts are taken from these, and allow us to observe the development and movement of the various Weddell households during this period. To assist the reader in identifying the various Newtons I have added superscripts to the records.
